Geotechnical Instrumentation

Unique Solutions for Unique Projects

We understand that every project is different. Instratus tailors our instrumentation and monitoring solutions to meet your project’s specific needs. We will create a plan that allows you to keep your project moving forward while saving you money.

Each monitoring project requires an array of different sensors, installations, reading frequencies, and data processing. Instratus will work to integrate a system that provides all this information in a neat and tidy package that gets you the information you need when you need it. We configure the system so you and your team can access the information at any time and are alerted if anything is amiss. The automated system reduces the need to have personnel onsite, eliminates data collection errors, and provides near real-time data. A few examples are provided below, but many other opportunities exist so please reach out to discuss your project.

Ground Improvement

Ground improvement projects include a wide array of construction methods; from preloading, to stone-columns, to dynamic compaction, each of which poses a specific monitoring need. Instratus can help develop and implement a monitoring plan to ensure impacts are mitigated, and the construction goals are met.

Shoring and Excavation

Shoring and excavation projects can produce challenging design and construction scenarios. Instratus can help your projects succeed by monitoring shoring components and adjacent features using load and strain gauges on anchors, tiltmeters on shoring walls and adjacent buildings, and robotic survey to track movement.

Slope Stability

Landslides are a real danger. Instratus can help you monitor existing or potential slope failure areas using inclinometers, tiltmeters, piezometers, and robotic survey. Our automated data collection systems can reduce the risk of personnel accessing areas that are unstable, while providing more frequent readings and eliminating errors.

Rail Track Monitoring

Instratus’ automated monitoring system can be used to monitor railway tracks for deformation in cross-level, twist, and settlement or heave in relation to construction activities and temperature. Critical information can be provided in near real-time to the operators to ensure the rails remain safe for trains.
